Why I Read It: I enjoy fairy tale retellings a lot. Thanks to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for allowing me to read this back in October.

Synopsis: Game of Thrones meets the Grimm's fairy tales in this twisted, fast-paced romantic fantasy-adventure about Sleeping Beauty's daughter, a warrior princess who must fight to reclaim her throne.

Though she looks like a mere mortal, Princess Aurora is a fairy blessed with enhanced strength, bravery, and mercy yet cursed to destroy the free will of any male who kisses her. Disguised as a boy, she enlists the help of the handsome but also cursed Prince Niklaas to fight legions of evil and free her brother from the ogre queen who stole Aurora's throne ten years ago.

Will Aurora triumph over evil and reach her brother before it's too late? Can Aurora and Niklaas break the curses that will otherwise forever keep them from finding their one true love?


Review: I really enjoyed this book and it was a very entertaining read. I love fairy tale retellings and this was really great. Aurora and Niklaas's friendship was entertaining and even after they both find out each other's secrets, they still had each other's back. It's kind of like a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but then again it's not at the same time. This is the story of Sleeping Beauty's daughter as she tries to save her brother and reclaim her kingdom. There's also Niklaas, who is trying to escape a curse placed on him before his eighteenth birthday. I enjoyed this totally different take on the classic Sleeping Beauty tale and will probably read this book like a thousand times over.

This is something I wrote for a contest of some type for figment.com. I just love this one a lot because it's based off a vacation I took years ago. Hope you all enjoy!
