Why I Read/Listened to the Book: I like Greek Mythology, so this was right up my alley.

Synopsis: How long can a monster stay hidden in plain sight?

Seventeen year-old Hope Nicholas has spent her entire life on the run. But no one is chasing her. In fact, no one even knows she exists. With her mom, she’s traveled from town to town and school to school, barely staying long enough to meet anyone, let alone make friends. And she’ll have to keep it that way. It’s safer.

When her mother is brutally ripped away from her, Hope’s life shatters. Is this the fulfillment of Apollo’s curse, murder from the shadow monsters of the Underworld, or have the demigods finally found her? Orphaned and alone, Hope flees again, but this time there’s no one to teach her who to trust—or how to love.

Set in a universe where mythology is alive and well in the modern world, Curse of the Sphinx irresistibly blends action, suspense and romance.

Review: I really enjoyed this book! It was all the things I loved about Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympions series, but instead of being about the demigods, it was more about someone descended from one of the monsters of Greek mythology. I really felt sorry for Hope in every way possible. She lost her mother, her life, and now has to endure the curse on her own. It's just sad to think that she had to go through all of this with no one to guide her in any way. I didn't particularly like the love interest that was introduced because he seemed way too perfect for my taste. I was kind of rooting for Hope not to fall for him, but my wish never came true. All in all, this book was great and I wish for eveyone to read it.

Hey fellow readers! Doing something else- whether it be playing video games or watching t.v.- can be a worthwhile break from reading. A break from reading can sometimes help to reignite the passion to read. 2. Get a Change of Scenery: Reading in the same spot all the time can cause a reading slump. So go find a new spot to read! Be it in the kitchen, the living room, or outside. Reading in a different place can be very beneficial to keep from falling into a slump. 3. Find a New Genre to Read: When reading the same genre over and over again, it causes a reading slump due to reading th...

Delirium

Title: Delirium (Delirium #1) Author: Lauren Oliver Genre: Young Adult Dystopian Published: February 2012 Medium Read In: Paperback Pages: 441 Rating: 4 Why I Read It: I was curious to what all the good ratings were about.  Summary:  Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't. Review: This book reminded me a lot like Matched  by Allie Condie, in which the government systems are slightly alike. The only difference is that love still exists in Matched  whereas it does not exist in this book. I found it difficult to relate to Lena in anyway until the end of the novel. Lena...
