Why I Read/Listened to the Book: I've been meaning to get to Danielle's books for a while and this seemed like a good start.

Synopsis: First kisses sometimes wake slumbering princesses, undo spells, and spark happily ever afters.

Mine broke Bale.

Seventeen-year-old Snow has spent her life locked in Whittaker Psychiatric—but she isn’t crazy. And that’s not the worst of it. Her very first kiss proves anything but innocent…when Bale, her only love, turns violent.

Despite Snow knowing that Bale would never truly hurt her, he is taken away—dashing her last hope for any sort of future in the mental ward she calls home. With nowhere else to turn, Snow finds herself drawn to a strange new orderly who whispers secrets in the night about a mysterious past and a kingdom that’s hers for the taking—if only she can find her way past the iron gates to the Tree that has been haunting her dreams.

Beyond the Tree lies Algid, a land far away from the real world, frozen by a ruthless king. And there too await the River Witch, a village boy named Kai, the charming thief Jagger, and a prophecy that Snow will save them all.

Review: This was amazing! "The Snow Queen" is one of my favorite fairy tales and this retelling of it was just phenomenal in so many ways! Snow is an amazing main character and I don't blame her one bit for the way she was. Seriously, the girl has reasons for being the way she is. There were times that Snow got to be a little bratty or complained too much, but then again she did spend most of her life in a psychiatric hospital. I wasn't expecting the way things went down near the last half of the book, but it was just amazing. I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

Writing Wednesday | Writing Propmt "Winter Solstice"

Happy New Year everyone! I am so sorry for not posting in such along time, but I promise you that I will be posting regularly from now on (baring that life doesn't get in the way too much). Today, I thought it would be best to do something a little different. I love writing prompts because you can always do something different with them all the time. This one is actually one of my favorite prompts because it is whimsical and I could expand it into a novel if I wanted. Without further ado, here is what I think of when I think of Winter Solstice. Emmaline sat on a snow covered log, watching the Winter Fey danced round and round the bonfire. Evana, the queen of Winter, sat on her icy throne next to Emmaline's log while talking to Lord Draven about some political things that made absolutely no sense to Emmaline. For as long as she could remember, Emmaline has always been kept near Evana no matter where in the ice palace.  The others called her "Evana's Little Pet."

Writing Wednesday | "Rolling Hills and Mighty Mountains"

This is something I wrote for a contest of some type for figment.com. I just love this one a lot because it's based off a vacation I took years ago. Hope you all enjoy! It started out as any vacation would. A long car drive down the highway watching other cars zoom by and making shapes out of the clouds. Sometimes I would sleep, but other times I would imagine being anywhere else than in the car. Grandpa would look at me in the rear view mirror from time to time as he drove, but I paid no special attention to his glances. Why should I? I didn't want to be stuck in the car as we headed to see some relatives I had never met in West Virginia. I was bored. There was nothing to do but stare out the window and even that got boring after a while. "What are you thinking about, Nicole?" Mom asked from behind me. I turned around in my seat to look at Mom. She was reading another Jane Austen novel while my sister was leaning against her shoulder, asleep. How my mo

Blog Update

Hello fellow readers! I'm sorry if I haven't been posting as often, but I felt like I needed to get away from the blog for a while. I'm writing this to let you know that I will not be posting for about a week or two. I'm doing this to customize the look of the blog. I feel like the look of it is too boring or not functional to what I want it to be. I'm not abandoning this blog, I'm just fixing it up. See you soon. Happy reading!
