Why I Read It: I loved Sacrificed and I was lucky to be able to participate in the blog tour!

Synopsis: Clio can see the future, but what she doesn’t know about her past could destroy her.

It’s been a year since Clio made her sacrifice to the Deities and embraced her destiny as the Oracle to save her people.

The only family she has left is a brother who wants her dead.

The prince, her oldest friend, is a king with his own agenda.

And the man who once loved her, now hates her.

All she can do is try to forget about Riece, the enemy commander whose heart she broke to save his life, as she serves the Deities. Her days are filled with Visions and bloodshed in a never-ending war against the Untouched. To add to her problems, she must pose as King Derik’s mistress to conceal her forbidden powers from the Emperor’s spies.

When Riece unexpectedly returns to Sheehan with a new and beautiful ally, Clio knows she must put him out of her mind once and for all, but first, they are thrust together into battle against a mysterious Untouched warrior with otherworldly power. To reclaim her city, she must team up with the man she hurt, the man she still loves but can never be with, and finally confront the questions about her origin—questions with answers that Clio may not be prepared to face.
Review: I definitely didn’t see any of what happened in this book coming at all! I have read many sequels in a fantasy series that weren’t as good as the first book, but this completely blew Sacrificed out of the park! I loved every battle, every decision made, and the romance. Ah Riece! I have been waiting for this book for a while and I wasn’t expecting anything from it. It was truly a great sequel. Emily Wibberley surely does know how to write a fantasy novel that makes the reader completely fall in love with it.

Clio is one of my favorite characters in this series. We finally get to see her in the position of the Oracle and how that position helps her to help her city. She does struggle a bit with the expectations that serving the Deities implies, but she does the best that she can. I love the fact that even when her Visions were being manipulated, she still had her sights set on saving Sheehan. I did want to yell at her to just accept the fact that she truly still love Riece, but I understand why she so adamantly refused. Clio does find out more on what exactly being the Oracle entails, but I hope that her decision in the end doesn’t end up costing her life.

I love Riece, I really do. I can understand why he was mad at Clio for an entire year. But what I did not like was when he just shows up in Sheehan with a princess he’s engaged to. A PRINCESS!!!! I digress. I still admire Riece for being a good commander and being loyal to his friend the Emperor. He hides his pain well, but you can tell that he really was hurt by Clio’s rejection. He had loved her and she rejected him to keep him safe. I laughed whenever there was a part in the book when he would be talking to Derik because you can tell that even though he was hiding his pain, Riece loved Clio and Derik knew it. Riece is an amazing character and I can’t wait to see how his storyline progresses.

Overall, this book was the greatest sequel I have ever read in a fantasy series and that is saying a lot. I cannot wait for the third book! This series has everything I love in a fantasy series. I cannot wait to find out how everything goes and what will happen to all my favorite characters. Emily Wibberley is an amazing writer whose work I will continue to read.

  1. Looks fantastic but I'm easily swayed when it comes to a woman who is powerful in many ways, strength, smarts, abilities, yeah I'm a pushover :-)

    1. Yeah Clio is all that and more. Practically the reasons why I read this series. I also have a weakness for strong female characters.

Five Tips to Get Out of a Reading Slump

Hey fellow readers! So seeing as I've been in a bit of an off-and-on reading slump for the past couple of months, I decided that I'll give you a few tips to help you all get out of a slump when you find yourselves in one. Without further preamble, here are five tips to out of a reading slump. 1.  Do Something Else: Sometimes after a really good/emotional/powerful book, it's easy to fall into a reading slump. Doing something else- whether it be playing video games or watching t.v.- can be a worthwhile break from reading. A break from reading can sometimes help to reignite the passion to read. 2. Get a Change of Scenery: Reading in the same spot all the time can cause a reading slump. So go find a new spot to read! Be it in the kitchen, the living room, or outside. Reading in a different place can be very beneficial to keep from falling into a slump. 3. Find a New Genre to Read: When reading the same genre over and over again, it causes a reading slump due to reading th...

Delirium

Title: Delirium (Delirium #1) Author: Lauren Oliver Genre: Young Adult Dystopian Published: February 2012 Medium Read In: Paperback Pages: 441 Rating: 4 Why I Read It: I was curious to what all the good ratings were about.  Summary:  Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't. Review: This book reminded me a lot like Matched  by Allie Condie, in which the government systems are slightly alike. The only difference is that love still exists in Matched  whereas it does not exist in this book. I found it difficult to relate to Lena in anyway until the end of the novel. Lena...
