Why I Read/Listened to the Book: This was the book that came in my August Uppercase box and I wanted to read it to try to get out of my reading slump.

While spacing out in chemistry class, Lily scribbles some of her favorite song lyrics onto her desk. The next day, she finds that someone has continued the lyrics on the desk and added a message to her. Intrigue!

Soon, Lily and her anonymous pen pal are exchanging full-on letters—sharing secrets, recommending bands, and opening up to each other. Lily realizes she’s kind of falling for this letter writer. Only, who is he? As Lily attempts to unravel the mystery and juggle school, friends, crushes, and her crazy family, she discovers that matters of the heart can’t always be spelled out…

Review: This was such a cute and funny contemporary read! It also helped me get out of my reading slump!!! I absolutely adored this book. I knew right away who Lily's pen pal was and I just loved the whole premise of the story. I loved Lily in all her awkwardness and the way she interacts with the people around her. All in all, Kasie West wrote a hilarious novel that I could not stop reading!!!

Happy New Year everyone! I am so sorry for not posting in such along time, but I promise you that I will be posting regularly from now on (baring that life doesn't get in the way too much). Evana, the queen of Winter, sat on her icy throne next to Emmaline's log while talking to Lord Draven about some political things that made absolutely no sense to Emmaline. For as long as she could remember, Emmaline has always been kept near Evana no matter where in the ice palace.  The others called her "Evana's Little Pet."

Writing Wednesday | "Rolling Hills and Mighty Mountains"

This is something I wrote for a contest of some type for figment.com. I just love this one a lot because it's based off a vacation I took years ago. Hope you all enjoy! It started out as any vacation would. A long car drive down the highway watching other cars zoom by and making shapes out of the clouds. Sometimes I would sleep, but other times I would imagine being anywhere else than in the car. Grandpa would look at me in the rear view mirror from time to time as he drove, but I paid no special attention to his glances. Why should I? I didn't want to be stuck in the car as we headed to see some relatives I had never met in West Virginia. I was bored. There was nothing to do but stare out the window and even that got boring after a while. "What are you thinking about, Nicole?" Mom asked from behind me. I turned around in my seat to look at Mom.
