Summary: Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review: I was told by like a TON of people that this book was like Twilight only with aliens instead of vampires. I would like to point out that I found no similarities between the two the whole time I was reading this. So, everyone who said it's like Twilight is wrong.

First of all, I totally identified with Katy because we're both book bloggers and all. The way she enjoys reading and blogging about books was immensely satisfying for me. I loved that as much as she tried to get out of her comfort zone to please her mom, she still stayed true to herself. She's a strong female character who cares for her family and friends no matter what Daemon and others throw at her.

Speaking of Daemon Black, I love him. Even though he acts like a douche-bag throughout the entire book, he has a true soft side when it comes to his family. He wants to protect his sister at all cost, even if it means he has to keep her away from Katy. He acts like he hates Katy, but he truly cares about her and doesn't want to see her get hurt because of what he and his family are. Daemon may have a tough guy persona, but he's still a softy at heart.

Overall, this book was absolutely fabulous. I loved it so much that I want to read the rest of the series to find out what happens to everyone. This was one fast paced book that I could read over and over again without complaints.

Five Tips to Get Out of a Reading Slump

Hey fellow readers! So seeing as I've been in a bit of an off-and-on reading slump for the past couple of months, I decided that I'll give you a few tips to help you all get out of a slump when you find yourselves in one. Without further preamble, here are five tips to out of a reading slump. 1.  Do Something Else: Sometimes after a really good/emotional/powerful book, it's easy to fall into a reading slump. Doing something else- whether it be playing video games or watching t.v.- can be a worthwhile break from reading. A break from reading can sometimes help to reignite the passion to read. 2. Get a Change of Scenery: Reading in the same spot all the time can cause a reading slump. So go find a new spot to read! Be it in the kitchen, the living room, or outside. Reading in a different place can be very beneficial to keep from falling into a slump. 3. Find a New Genre to Read: When reading the same genre over and over again, it causes a reading slump due to reading th...

Delirium

Title: Delirium (Delirium #1) Author: Lauren Oliver Genre: Young Adult Dystopian Published: February 2012 Medium Read In: Paperback Pages: 441 Rating: 4 Why I Read It: I was curious to what all the good ratings were about.  Summary:  Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't. Review: This book reminded me a lot like Matched  by Allie Condie, in which the government systems are slightly alike. The only difference is that love still exists in Matched  whereas it does not exist in this book. I found it difficult to relate to Lena in anyway until the end of the novel. Lena...
